D.I.Y Easy Braided Bracelets

Ahh it's finally summer!!!! That means more free time, more trips to beach, lots of sun, and most importantly more time to relax and just chill. Now it just so happened that I was experiencing one of these relaxing days while browsing through Instagram, and suddenly got some inspiration to create my very own bracelets! Not just any old bracelets, but bracelets made out of natural hemp twine to give a more beachy boho kind of vibe. Personally I'm not a jewelry wearer because most bracelets/rings are too big for me to wear. I have very small wrists and practically nothing fits me, so by making these bracelets myself I can easily customize the size, style, and colors and so can you!!

All the materials that I bought were from Michaels and were all fairly cheap. When you go shopping there, don't forget to print out some coupons! There are always great coupons that you can find online. This D.I.Y takes around 15 minutes to make and you can easily whip out a few to give to your friends, neighbors, etc. Without further ado, let's begin! :)

Materials Needed ( 1 bracelet) :

- Hemp Twine or bead cording

- 1 lobster Clasp

- 2 jump rings

- 1 cord end

Tools Needed:

- 1 pair of scissors

- 2 pairs of pliers/ wire cutters

- Tape measurer

Steps:

1. Decide which colors you want to use. Keep in mind that whether you are doing a fishtail braid or a normal braid, you need 3 pieces of string.

2. Using the tape measurer, measure the width of your wrist ( in inches).

3. Add 20 inches to your wrist width. Measure that length out and cut your string. Repeat this 2 more times with the rest of your colors.

4. Once you have 3 pieces of long string, hold them so the ends meet up and thread all 3 strings into one of your jump rings.

5. Center your jump ring so the beginning and ends of your strings meet up and the jump ring is in the center/middle.

6. Tie (or tape) this entire contraption to a chair, table, person, etc. You just want to "contraption" to stay in place while you braid.

7. Braid!! You don't need to braid all the down. Just braid until there's an inch or two of string left. If you are doing a normal braid (pic above) hold the strings so the like colors from the same piece of string are together. Then braid as per usual. If you are doing a fishtail braid (pic below), evenly divide up the string (so each half of the string from one color is in each hand), and precede to do your normal fishtail braid.

8. Take your braid off of your chair/table and head back up to your jump ring. Find the little gap in your jump ring where the ends meet.

9. Using both pliers hold one in each hand and clamp on either ends of the jump ring. Then simple twist so one hand twists away from you and the other twists towards you. This will open up the jump ring.

10. After opening you jump ring, slide in your lobster clasp.

11. Close the ring by using a plier to clap the ends of the jump ring back into place.

12. Remeasure the entire bracelet around your own wrist and cut off any extra string.

13. Grab your cord end and put your unfinished end of your braid into the cord end. Make sure all of the strings are in there and then clamp the cord end closed.

14. Open and attach another jump ring to the end with the cord end.

15. Ta Da!!!! You are finally done!!!!!!!

And with these 15 easy peasy steps you have your very own boho inspired bracelet. Now go out into the world and go rock your D.I.Y Bracelets. Again thank you for reading this long ass blog post and I hope you all have a great day!!
